The definition of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is indeed characterized as a brain injury that occurs when sudden trauma causes damage to the brain. TBI can result from various incidents, such as falls, vehicle accidents, or assaults, where an external force impacts the head or body, leading to potential physical, cognitive, or emotional impairments. The immediate effects can vary significantly, ranging from mild concussions to severe impairments, depending on the severity of the trauma.

This definition emphasizes the acute nature of the injury, distinct from chronic conditions or specific medical events like strokes. While a concussion can be a form of TBI, it is insufficient to define TBI comprehensively, as TBIs can have much broader implications. Additionally, TBIs are not classified as chronic conditions; rather, they develop acutely following the injury. Thus, the correct answer accurately encapsulates the essence of what constitutes a TBI.
